Cardiopulmonary ailments are of the most prevalent and burdensome chronic diseases, costing the health-care system hundreds of billions of dollars in the United States alone. Patients suffering from congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, among others, have frequent visits to emergency rooms, hospitalizations and readmissions that could be avoided by early detection using remote patient monitoring. The current situation is expensive and burdensome to patients, payors and providers, as well as life-threatening to patients. There is significant clinical information for these chronic diseases in the body’s sounds that are easily and inexpensively picked up through stethoscope-type devices. However, over half of this clinically valuable information has been ignored up until now by the medical community since those body sounds reside in the “infrasound” (below 30Hz) range that is inaudible to the human ear. Sanolla is delivering an end-to-end solution to improve the care, diagnosis, and screening for the most prevalent and burdensome chronic diseases in the health-care system. The VoqXTMsmart stethoscope is targeted to clinicians, and the PyXyTM in-home remote patient monitoring device that detects flare-ups for chronically ill CHF, COPD and asthma patients.
