i2i Attends ASUS Forum to Discuss Smart Factory, 5G, AIoT and Digital Twins

On May 23, i2i participated in a forum organized by ASUS and Intel.

The forum featured speakers from ASUS, Intel, ASKEY Computer Corp, Chunghwa Telecom, and Microsoft, who discussed the integration of AI and 5G private networks, the establishment of smart factories and service data platforms, the development of Industry 4.0, and the direction of corporate digital transformation.

Key Takeaways
AI/5G Development and Applications

The speakers highlighted the crucial applications and development trends of AI and 5G across various industries. AI relies on 5G private networks to accelerate digital transformation because 5G provides low latency, high bandwidth, and stable connectivity, essential for real-time data processing and AI applications.

They pointed out that AI will achieve digital twin technology through the integration of IoT big data, AI/5G technologies, and cyber-physical systems.

In particular, 5G private networks are gaining prominence in vertical markets, with the manufacturing sector leading the way. As AI technology matures, demand across industries will continue to rise, driving further development of 5G applications.

Smart Factories

The construction of smart factories was a central topic. The speakers outlined the evolution from Industry 1.0 to Industry 5.0, emphasizing the current stage of Industry 4.0 and the transition to the personalized automation of Industry 5.0.

Smart factories require three key technologies: Private 5G, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), and Agentic AI.

These technologies enable high levels of automation and intelligence in factories.

ASUS demonstrated how its intelligent material delivery and on-site scheduling systems leverage 5G and AI to enhance factory operations.

Meanwhile, Chunghwa Telecom discussed how ICT infrastructure and automated equipment in smart buildings facilitate global operations, helping Taiwanese businesses establish overseas factories and enhance the resilience and efficiency of global supply chains.

Corporate Digital Transformation

The forum underscored the importance of digital transformation for businesses, especially in today's rapidly changing global market.

Successful digital transformation hinges on three key factors: IoT big data, the integration of AI and 5G applications, and cyber-physical systems.

These technologies help companies optimize production processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency while meeting sustainability goals.

Microsoft noted that 75% of enterprise data will be processed at the Edge in the future, significantly enhancing application maturity and real-time capabilities. To address cybersecurity risks and improve workplace safety and remote collaboration, companies need to rely on low-latency, highly stable 5G private networks.

Additionally, Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) provides services and computing power closer to end-users, further enhancing digital transformation. Digital twin technology, which requires extensive data to realize, shows great promise for the future.
