i2i Attends HAO SHi DEMO DAY: AI for Agriculture, Circular Materials, and Biotech

On December 4, i2i attended the annual startup showcase event, “2024 HAO SHi DEMO DAY,” organized by HAO SHi Accelerator. The event explored fresh applications in AI-driven agriculture, food, and biotech, while also fostering connections that advance the local startup ecosystem.

Ten promising Taiwanese startup teams each delivered a six-minute pitch, presenting their innovative solutions and future goals. Their work underscored the growing potential of agri-food technologies and the progress being made in this field.

HAO SHi is Taiwan’s largest agri-food technology accelerator, focusing on innovations that address global challenges posed by climate change, resource constraints, and market shifts. This year’s featured startups covered five main areas: AI-powered agriculture, biotechnology, circular materials, cold chain logistics, and food innovation.

Key Takeaways
AI Agriculture & Precision Farming

DATAYOO Application uses satellite data and crop algorithms to give producers real-time field growth and health insights in just 3–10 seconds, helping them optimize farming plans.

Earthgen Tech integrates drone technology with agricultural data to lower pesticide use and boost farming efficiency through precise spraying methods.

AgriGaia Tech offers underground irrigation systems and soil enrichment methods that make the most of water resources.

Food Tech & Biotechnology

Fecula Biotech focuses on microflora transplants and new plant-based drug development. They are creating an oral liver cancer vaccine and health supplements made from green banana-derived resistant starch, successfully entering domestic and international markets.

InnoRs Biotechnology promotes environmental sustainability by commercializing black soldier fly technology, producing a wide range of products—from organic fertilizers to animal feed.

These innovations show how biotechnology is taking on health and environmental challenges, reflecting the spirit of “Resilience ∞ TECH.”

Circular Economy & Green Supply Chains

CCILU International and Farm to Material transform agricultural waste like coffee grounds, silicon wafers, and banana pseudostems into valuable new materials, launching functional and eco-friendly products.

CCILU International has found global recognition for its recycled shoes and green floor tiles. Farm to Material extracts polysaccharides, fibers, and electrolytes from banana stems for feed, textiles, and bioenergy, boosting farmers’ incomes while reducing environmental impact.

Cold Chain Logistics & Transportation Optimization

Logistics plays a vital role in the agri-food supply chain, especially when extreme weather and market fluctuations are on the rise.

Gocochain presented its “CoTag” cold chain security solution, which uses wireless temperature monitoring and cloud-based data analysis for better transparency in food and pharmaceutical transport.

Singularity & Infinity specializes in route planning through discrete mathematics and theoretical computing, helping logistics companies improve transport efficiency while protecting drivers’ work hours.

Plant-Based Diets & Sustainable Market Opportunities

Plant Egg focuses on the global vegan trend with its plant-based “fried egg” product. It balances taste, affordability, and an animal-friendly philosophy, and is already working with a German distributor to expand into Europe. The potential for plant-based protein continues to grow worldwide.
