The Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE), one of the largest innovation and technology events in Taiwan, officially opened on October 17 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. The expo, running from October 17 to 19, was inaugurated with keynote speeches from Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai, Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-huei, and Chairman of the National Science and Technology Council Cheng-Wen Wu.
Annual Theme Highlights Key Trends
The exhibition encompasses a variety of pavilions, including the Innovation Pilot, Future Tech and Sustainability, and the Invention Competition Area, featuring a diverse range of themes such as semiconductors, clean energy, cybersecurity, space technology, AI, and 5G.
It has drawn the attention of numerous businesses and academic institutions, with 431 domestic and international companies and research organizations representing 20 countries, showcasing a grand total of 1,140 cutting-edge technologies in 2024.
Taiwan’s Innovation Leaders Deliver Opening Remarks
Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai noted that Taiwan's semiconductor and AI industries are growing rapidly, making Taiwan an increasingly critical player in the global supply chain. He expressed hope that both domestic and international companies and research institutions could collaborate more closely to drive innovation and support the digital transformation of SMEs.
Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-huei pointed out that while Taiwan currently ranks first in global AI hardware, its software ranking is only 26th. He emphasized the need for greater efforts to strengthen the country's software capabilities.
Chairman Cheng-Wen Wu of the National Science and Technology Council highlighted Taiwan’s strong research environment and deep pool of technical talent, noting that TIE serves as an excellent platform to showcase Taiwan's technological strengths to the world.
SMEs and Startups Focus on Industry-Academia Collaboration and Globalization
This year’s exhibits emphasize industry-academia collaboration and the globalization of Taiwan’s SMEs and startups, aiming to foster a platform for international technology exchange and business opportunities.
